Worshipers throw cow feces during festival in Gumatapura

Villagers threw cow feces at each other and smeared themselves with dung as they celebrated the day-long ‘Gore Habba’ festival in Gumatapura.

They believe the clothes and remains of a saint were dumped in a pit in their village, and took the shape of the ‘Linga’ religious symbol, which was surrounded by cow excrement.
