Sunday Longplay - Castlevania Reborn (NES ROM Hack)

Halloween month on Sunday Longplay continues this week, with another ROM hack of a spooky-themed NES classic! Welcome to Castlevania Reborn!

This hack creates 6 all-new levels for the game as well as implementing all new sprites and graphics.

Description from RHDN: This is a rom hack I made based off of Luto Akino’s hack called CastleVania Overflow Darkness. I had his permission to do so. I pretty much re-did all the stages and their graphics. I did, however, keep most of Luto’s enemy designs and attack patterns, his cool looking Simon’s sprite, his castle introduction sequence(I did change the castle, tho) and his ending screen(Which is awesome) since these were the reasons why I wanted to do this in the first place. However, any other new graphics you’ll see were most likely done by myself.

I made it pretty hard but I think that’s mainly because I can go through the original game like a breeze. I don’t think it should be a problem to anyone who would be interested in downloading a hack of the original CastleVania in the first place anyway.

I agree, it is hard, but that's to be expected from a Castlevania hack, and it doesn't go to extremes like other hacks such as Castlevania Undead Serious Redemption or Caress of Death do, so that's to be commended. Also, I love Simon's new sprite in this hack. I played a little bit of the second loop in this hack after the recording, and it didn't feel any different than the first loop, so no Hard Mode playthrough for this hack. Sorry, folks.
