"Good Riddance (Time of your life)," written by Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Pritchard and Frank Wright, was Green Day's 7th top 40 hit landing on the no. 11 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1997 and stayed on the chart for 43 weeks (Whitburn, 2013). "Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this song when his girlfriend moved to Ecuador to live with her family and continue her schooling. He tried to be levelheaded about it, but to show his anger, he named the song "Good Riddance" and made "Time Of Your Life" the subtitle" (songfacts, 2022). "The line 'tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial' relates to a tattoo Billie Joe Armstrong had of the girl he wrote the song about . . . .
