The U.S. Government commissioned Fort Reno in 1874, the same year that George Custer's expedition confirmed reports of gold in the Black Hills, and used the fort as a military post until just after World War II. Fort Reno policed and enforced the government's aims for the surrounding area.
The historic city of El Reno, Oklahoma lies at the crossroads of Route 66 and the Chisholm Trail, now known as U.S. Highway 81. It has plenty of Historic Landmarks and RT66 attractions and sights plus we hear you may find some famous onion burgers.
