Cherokee Therapy Episode Six: Shim Your Rear Jeep XJ's Axle

Have a grinding sound from your rear drive shaft u joint after lifting your jeep? Did you check your angles? Any time we change the geometry of our suspension past a certain point, we need to put in gear or change orientations in other places to compensate for the new set up. It can happen after a lift, or - in my case - after fixing a problem with crappy aftermarket transmission mounts. That's where axle shims come in; they bring all your angles back in line. Hopefully. This video shows you how it's done (and what not to do)! Car repair
