Invention Negative 3 in D Major

Another two part invention in a baroque style, mostly. This one does not wax modern, but it is a bit adventurous including a section in Phrygian mode. The theme is pretty thin, but I work it in quite a few directions and include a lot of drama.
By way of explanation: The use of rhythm, here, IMO, is quite clever*. Sparse interplay, but leading voices everywhere, often across the rests. Section D is the exception. This is the phrygian stuff, so instead of leading voices we've got large skips, jagged rhythms, and a few low notes pounded hard. There are also a few gentle passages albeit with scant relationship to the theme.

*Yes, I'm calling myself "clever."
