Is the IRS Being Used to Sidestep the Posse Comitatus Act? (September 27, 2022)

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted to let the police access private security cameras in real time. Officers will be allowed 24 hours of live video without a warrant -all they will need is the owner's permission. Police can use this new power in three situations: responding to a life-threatening emergency, deploying officers for a large public event, or conducting a criminal investigation. The board claims the policy will have rules that stipulates data retention, reporting requirements, and how long the cameras can be used.

This new policy will last for 15 months. If the trial is to be extended, it will have to undergo a second vote by the board.
