On September 13, 1997, a documentary entitled "The Secret KGB UFO Files" was shown on the TNT subscription television network.

It was 90 minutes long, produced by Associated Television International (ATI) and presented by the well-known actor Roger Moore. The show included interviews with several well-known American UFO researchers and motion pictures of UFOs shot in Russia. The first three films were from the cameras of MIG fighter jets during a UFO reconnaissance and interception mission...

These three films were presented under the title "Declassified Soviet Government Material", and Roger Moore commented that they had been obtained through a group of Russian UFO researchers. They showed two dark spherical objects streaking across the sky and disappearing into the horizon, as well as a cylindrical object. Everything was moving with incredible speed. But that was just the introduction.

The main part of the program was two other films presented under the title "Operetion Sverdlovsk Midget". The first featured the attempts to collect a UFO that had fallen in the Sverdlovsk region! The second featured the autopsy on the corpse of an alien that had been found inside the UFO! Both films were commented mainly by the Russian UFO researcher, Verniamin G. Vereschagin, who was unknown to the general public in the West.

According to Vereschagin, on November 27, 1968, many residents of Sverdlovsk in the Central Russian region saw a UFO over their town and shortly after heard a large explosion. This fact was also presented in one of the newspapers of the region without naming it. Sometime later, in the spring of 1969, local farmers found some strange debris and notified the KGB.

The area was immediately cordoned off by Russian Army forces and control began. When the crashed UFO was spotted in the woods, a KGB cameraman filmed the crash site and the activities of the soldiers around it.
