Are you waiting for a prayer to be answered?

Have you ever been in a season of waiting where there's something that you've been asking God for and it feels like your prayers are not being answered or you don't understand why your having to wait for your prayer to be answered? Maybe it feels like you're not being heard or you're just starting to feel impatient. You are wondering what is going on. You feel that what you need is something that is good for you or something you sincerely need. Maybe it’s something you desire that you feel should be within the will of God.

During those seasons of waiting, we need to remember that God is always there for us and He is always listening and He's going to do what's best for us. Even, if at the time, it seems like the answer is not coming soon enough or what is happening is not right, it's going to work out - God promises this. Here’s a few scriptures to give you encouragement. Whether you're in a time of waiting now or in the future.

Psalms 145:17-20
“The LORD is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. The LORD watches over all who love him”

God is always looking after us. He hears what we have to say. He hears our prayers, but we have to remember his ways are higher. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, ““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

God knows all. He knows the bigger picture that we can't see and He's going to do what's best for us. He wants us to prosper as it says in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Everything He does for us is for our best interest. We are His children. He loves us. And just as we have loved ones or our own children who we would want the best for and do the best for them, God loves us even more than that. He cares for us even more than we can as humans. He is going to do what is best for us at the right time and in the best way that we may never have imagined as a solution or as an answer to our prayers. His ways are beyond our thoughts because He is higher than us. He knows the big picture. So we can have faith in that and trust in that. We can live each day of any “season of waiting” knowing that we just have to have a little patience and God is going to work it out.

A friend gave to me a mug many years ago that says: “I do my best and I leave the rest to God”. All we can do is do our best each day...pursuing our goals, pursuing our relationship with Jesus Christ and with God our Father. And be with Him in prayer and in bible study. And draw near to Him and He will draw near to us. He will answer our prayers with the right timing and in the right way better than we ever would have hoped for.
