Splatoon 3 - Salmon Run Next Wave - Eggsecutive VP Reached! (Gone Fission Hydroplant)

The Splatoon 3 launch party continues with the mode I've been most excited about: the Next Wave of Salmon Run! Salmon Run was my favorite mode of Splatoon 2, and now it's back and even better than ever!

Between the improved mechanics of being able to pass Golden Eggs to players closer to the basket (as well as the increased egg quotas at higher ranks that come with it) to the expanded roster of Boss Salmonids as well as the new addition of the bonus King Salmonid fight, Salmon Run just got a lot more chaotic!

On top of the 7 boss Salmonids from Splatoon 2, Splatoon 3's Salmon Run also adds the Fish Stick (where a ring of Salmonids drop an obelisk into the ground and spray ink all around it), the Flipper-Flopper (which throws a ring onto the ground which works like a Splat Zone. Ink it in your own color to make it flop on the ground and kill it), the Big Shot (who brings a cannon onto the battlefield and shoots bouncing cannonballs into the middle of the field creating shockwaves. You can also use the cannon yourself to shoot golden eggs closer to the basket), and the Slammin' Lid (a UFO that creates a barrier like the Big Bubbler as it summons smaller Salmonids and crushes players that pass underneath it). On top of it all, this mode also introduces the new periodic fight against a King Salmonid! Each match fills up a meter below your rank in the waiting room a little more, and once a player in your team goes in with a full meter, the King Salmonid Cohozuna will show up after the final wave! Each King Salmonid fight will give you new items to buy customizables like emblems, stickers, etc.

There are also two new special nighttime wave types: the Mudmouth Eruption (where a new special monster called the Mudmouth appears in different spots in the arena to summon lesser Salmonids, and you get Golden Eggs by throwing bombs in its mouth), and the Giant Tornado (which only happens at low tide, where a treasure chest full of mass amounts of Golden Eggs washes up on the shoreline, and once you break it open, you have to take them back to the normal basket location thus making the new egg-passing mechanic essential here. Also, because of the long trip from the shoreline to the egg basket, each egg will count for 2 in this wave).

There are also more ranks to climb in this version. After the Splatoon 2 ranks (Apprentice, Part-Timer, Go-Getter, Overachiever, and Profreshional), you also have three more numbered Profreshional ranks followed by the new ultimate rank of Eggsecutive VP. Even at the lower levels of Eggsecutive VP rank, the egg quotas are already higher than Hazard Level MAX in Splatoon 2.

The new Salmon Run also debuts with two brand-new maps: Sockeye Station and Gone Fission Hydroplant. I showed off off Sockeye Station in my previous Salmon Run video, and now I'm finishing the climb to Eggsecutive VP on the other new map.
