National emergency declared in Pakistan to deal with floods

Devastating floods and rains are causing havoc in Pakistan. Water levels in rivers and perennial streams have crossed dangerous limits. According to media reports, more than thirty three million people have been left without shelter.

Around 1162 people have, reportedly, died and more than 3554 injured. Approximately, 500,000 houses and buildings have been destroyed and over one million live stock killed.

According to Voice of America estimates, infrastructural wreckage includes serious damage to 3,000 kms roads and 130 bridges. Sindh and Balochistan provinces are most affected, besides many areas of KPK and Southern Punjab
