The pileup took out 13 cars on the 22nd lap of the Coke Zero 400 Cup Series at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, just as a massive rainstorm passed over the racecourse.
Racer Austin Dillon managed to slip through the carnage unscathed and jumped from 16th place to first. After a three hour rain delay he went on to win the race and secure a position in the NASCAR playoffs.
