Sunday Longplay - Junkoid (Metroid NES ROM Hack)

This week on Sunday Longplay, I'm exploring the most extensive ROM hack of the original NES Metroid game I've ever played! Welcome to Junkoid!

This hack overhauls everything about the OG Metroid: the map, the music, the story, the characters...everything. In this hack you don't even play as Samus! In Junkoid, you play as a girl named Junko who has been afflicted with perpetual nightmares and sets out to kill the manifestation of said nightmares, the serpent trickster Asmodeus (taking the place of Mother Brain)!

Junkoid also implements some of the improvements from the Metroid mOTHER improvement hack I had played on my channel previously, with battery saves, a minimap you can bring up by pausing the game, and the ability to combine the Wave and Ice Beams together.

Of course, because this is a Metroid hack, there is going to be some backtracking, but the world design in Junkoid makes the backtracking much quicker and more simplistic, which is a very welcome touch.
