Taliban celebrates anniversary of takeover outside former US Embassy

Taliban fighters and supporters gathered outside the former US Embassy in Kabul on Monday, celebrating one year since they gained power during the disastrous US withdrawal from Afghanistan. The crowd chanted, cheered and brandished their guns, also parading various pieces of US equipment left behind in last year’s botched exit.

Sadly, however, there were no bumper cars or merry-go-rounds for this particular celebration.
