Oingo Boingo “When the Lights Go Out” from their 1990 album, Dark at the End of the Tunnel

Another 48-hour blackout courtesy of PG&E. Once again, gassed-up and ready, took advantage of the situation to ride over Mount Rose and visit Virginia City. Long wondered what the place is like since my only other visits have been during a bi-annual motorcycle event known as Street Vibrations.

Nice (quick) ride over Mount Rose, and Hwy. 341 up to Virginia City was spectacular. Next time, I’ll try Hwy. 342 thru Gold Hill and Silver City.

The old Reindeer Lodge, a storied retreat and music venue for over five decades, was destroyed by record snowfall during the winter of 2017 and is being demolished. Property is currently for sale.
