The International Communications Congress in Venezuela's capital Caracas from December 2nd to December 4th 2019 showcased Venezuela's successful resistance to US sanctions. Among many outstanding figures taking part were Atilio Boron and Iñaki Gil de San Vicente. They explained how global media power is even more concentrated than corporate finance power and stressed the influence of the US entertainment industry. Grass roots communication workers enriched that theoretical analysis with practical proposals on how to fight the fascist alliance of corporate global media power with regional right wing elites across Latin America and the Caribbean. Many Venezuelan and regional media activists took part including many Caribbean media workers and academics. Grass roots interaction was constant, for example between local Venezuelan radio stations and visitors like Camilo Calero from Nicaragua. Congress delegates wholeheartedly rejected the US backed Lima Group's aggression against Venezuela under the so called TIAR treaty
