Sweet Tomatoes verses rotten tomatoes.
Getting Sweet Red Tomatoes instead of rotten tomatoes is a first step for many new gardeners. We do like the occasional fried green tomato, but getting those tomato plants to produce, and to be able to turn it into a delicious dining experience takes a little bit of work. One of the biggest, and easiest tips for this is trellising your tomatoes. Getting these beautiful vines off the ground and reaching for the sky is important, and it keeps those prized tomatoes noticeable instead of lying under a heap of vines and leaves and rotting in the dirt.
In this video we are late to the party, but we are getting it done. We are getting ready for a late summer harvest of sweet tomatoes and we want all we can get. Looking at this mess, you would think we don't have any tomatoes, we don't even have a garden, we just have a jungle, but I promise you, underneath that jumbled mess is a bountiful harvest of delicious tomatoes ready to turn into sandwiches, canned goods, delicious soups, and fresh pizza toppings. We are nearing the end of our summer which means we are canning and putting food back like crazy, and we will be getting ready for our fall garden soon, which you can click on the link below to see more about what we will be doing there.
