Hong Kong’s poor have long been unable to afford decent living spaces.
During a recent visit to Hong Kong, Chinese President Xi Jinping appeared to acknowledge the territory’s lack of affordable public housing, urging its new leader to make the issue a priority.
The Hong Kong government has pledged to build more than 300,000 homes in the next decade, something many residents say should have happened a long time ago.
Now, a new outbreak of COVID-19 is exposing that inequality.
