Bill Gates is at it again. He recently used a trust to purchase $13.5 million worth of potato farmland in two counties in North Dakota from Campbell Farms. It’s about 2,100 acres worth of precious Midwestern farmland.

People in North Dakota are concerned because the billionaire got a better deal on the farmland than most. Gates' values also contradict with the family farm values many North Dakotans feel strongly about.

You know what else is interesting? The Governor of North Dakota, Republican Doug Burgum, is a former Microsoft executive.

It's official - Gates and his entities now own about 275,000 acres of farmland. What happens to the little guys?

I interviewed North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring about all of these pressing questions. Goehring said people across the state are calling his office to give their opinion on the Bill Gates buyout.
