Humpback Whale Tail Slapping

Here we have a humpback whale, aggressively tail slapping the water just off the coast of Bremer Bay - Western Australia

Whales slap their tails to communicate, warn away predators or other males, and impress a potential mate. Different species of whale lobtail differently. Humpback whales will lobtail repeatedly. They will often raise their tail back and forth to slap the water.

There were quite a few whales in the area and it is breeding season right now..so I'm guessing this one was trying to impress a mate nearby,

It was awesome to be able to catch this behaviour on video
