What's Wrong with This Circuit?

I need your help to improve the audio output amp on the Moon Trak.

It's been a loooong time since I dealt with analog electronic circuits so I'm a bit out of my depth on this one.

What can I add/remove from the new circuit that will reduce the power (heat) from the transistor while not taking up too much space on the I/O board?
