Banks Are Preying On Our Youth, With RD BTC: Meet The Taco Plebs

For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine’s Meet The Taco Plebs, Nik (@nikcantmine) is joined by one of the meme lords of Bitcoin Twitter, RD BTC (@RD_btc)

RD BTC has been one of the most-often requested Taco Plebs to have on the show, and what an episode this turned out to be. This was one of Nik’s favorite episodes to record, as he felt it was a great one-on-one discussion that touched on some important topics.

Nik and RD discuss how and why the latter got into Bitcoin, and made a great book recommendation. They also discussed RD’s strategies for pitching Bitcoin to people.

One topic the two spent a lot of time on was how “predatory” the current financial system is. They explain how banks desperately try to make people fall into multiple debt traps once they become financially independent. They prey on the uneducated and inexperienced, and many people unfortunately end up falling for it. This is partly a result of a lack of financial education in primary and secondary schools, which both Nik and RD think is no coincidence. If kids were taught good money management in school before going off to college, they reasoned, then many students would most likely not go to college (right away, at least) because they would realize that they can’t afford to. And then there would be significantly fewer people to loan money to and earn interest off of.
