Royal icing is made by whisking together egg whites and powdered sugar, stiff for piping (more powdered sugar), thin for coating(more egg whites). You can also use water but the finish will be matte instead of glossy. Remember to always put plastic wrap directly on top when not in use or a crust will form on top.
