Having gone to public gyms a lot in my time, and now also working at one, I see this ALL THE TIME. It is an absolute PLAGUE. It is simply bad etiquette, and a testament to how most people today seem to have no sense of compassion or responsibility in public spaces, and in respect to others who use use it; as they just expect others to deal with it, and clean it up in their wake. LIKE CHILDREN.
DO. NOT. BE. THIS. PERSON!
Pick up your shit. Cultivate good habits. The more people do this, the better our everyday environments become.
