This afternoon, CHP H-32 responded with CAL FIRE CZU San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit and AMR-San Mateo to a report of a hiker who was suffering a medical emergency in the hills east of Half moon Bay.
H-32 arrived overhead and with the GPS coordinates provided by the Department of Public Safety Dispatch H-32 was able to locate the hiker miles from the nearest trail and on a single track trail.
H-32 lowered a CHP Flight Officer/Paramedic to the scene and placed the patient in a rescue harness. The patient was hoisted from the trail and flown to the Halfmoon Bay Airport where he was transferred to a waiting AMR Ambulance.
