Sunday Longplay - Rad Racer (NES)

This week on Sunday Longplay, I'm revisiting a classic racing game I played over a decade ago on my channel. Welcome to Rad Racer on the Nintendo Entertainment System! 11 years ago, I had an idea to splice my own driving soundtrack over a playthrough of this game because the game's Japanese title "Highway Star" immediately made me think of Deep Purple. However, that idea has led to some copyright troubles for my channel, so I thought I'd do another playthrough without the legal troubles. I still wanted to include a couple of my own songs in my library for when the music goes silent in the rotation, so I spliced in a couple songs from other racing games for those occassions. I'll still leave my other copyright-ridden playthrough up for posterity purposes, though.

Some people might know this game from the movie "The Wizard" where the movie's villain Lucas plays the game with the Power Glove and delivers the famous line "I love the Power Glove. It's so bad." It was also one of the three games featured in the 1990 Nintendo World Championships, along with Super Mario Bros. 1 and Tetris. This game follows a similar premise to the Sega arcade game Outrun, where players race a Ferrari 328 Twin Turbo or a Formula One machine through 8 different tracks getting from Point A to Point B against a time limit, with checkpoints that add additional time to your clock. Get to the finish line before your timer hits zero to win!
