Final Fantasy 1 (Pixel Remaster) - Part 1: Knocking Garland Down

With Final Fantasy 4 completed, let's continue our coverage of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series with the game that started it all, Final Fantasy 1!

At the start of the game, you're asked to customize your party setup. You can choose from any combination (including duplicates) of 4 out of 6 different hero classes: Fighter, Thief, Black Belt, Red Mage, White Mage, and Black Mage. I'm going with the default party setup for this playthrough, but I may do a Single Character Class challenge run later on. You're also asked to name your characters, but I'm terrible with names, so I just borrowed names from characters of similar classes from other Final Fantasy games.

An ancient prophecy foretells the coming of four warriors of light in a time of darkness, each bearing a crystal. When the four elements of the world descend into chaos, four such heroes appear in the kingdom of Corneria. The king believes them to be the heroes told of in the prophecy, and sends them to the Chaos Shrine to rescue his daughter Sarah who had been kidnapped by the kingdom's former knight Garland who had been driven mad by power. After saving Sarah from Garland, the king confirms his belief about the heroes of light and builds a bridge to the northern continent to pave the way for the heroes to make the crystals shine once more!
