Michigan Trout Fishing / Rainbow Trout & Brown Trout Fishing Michigan / Trout Fishing Set Ups

In this Michigan Trout Fishing video I am Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout fishing Michigan rivers and showing some of my trout fishing set ups for spring time trout fishing in Michigan. Michigan trout fishing is Iconic yet in ways under rated. Trout fishing Michigan rivers is rewarding in so many ways. Trout are beautiful fish and good fighters and in order to find trout you usually have to fish off the beaten path where you can really connect with nature. Should you get the chance to do battle with a big resident trout you are in for a treat and it will be an epic battle. The big brown trout I caught in this video rocked my world and fought like a boss! Truth be told I am after spring steelhead in this video. Rainbow trout and brown trout are was I've always affectionately referred to as the steelhead fisherman's consolation prize. A nice trout can save a bad day of steelhead fishing really fast and I often abandon the chase and just target trout when the bite is turned on but the steelhead aren't around. Brown trout are becoming my favorite trout over time and I have been making more and more brown trout fishing videos over the last 2 years. This year I targeted lake run brown trout in the fall but was surprised to find a big resident brown trout this spring.

My rainbow trout fishing set up is the same as my brown trout fishing set up. I either float fish with beads, spawn bags, jigs and or wax worms or I toss small spinners like Panther Martins and Rooster tails. The best fishing setup for rainbow trout brown trout or even brook trout in my opinion is a spinner when they are feeding aggressively or a subtle float fishing presentation when the bite is subdued. Float fishing for trout should 100% be part of your arsenal if you want to be a successful trout fisherman but my biggest brown trout have all come on spinners and I would say my biggest rainbow trout not counting steelhead have come on spinners and spawn bags or skein. River fishing for brown trout with spinners is deadly though. like I said spring trout fishing in Michigan is usually a bi product of trying to catch steelhead but this spring I went out to try to catch brook trout for the first time and I will target trout later in the season after I get bored of catching pike and bass lol.
