In this episode, Tommy and I visit beautiful Blue Ridge, GA., in search of the truth of the Legend of Elizabeth Jane Bradley, also known as the Tilley Bend Witch.
In 1905, Elizabeth was hung after her community members believed the curse she'd placed on them, as well as a neighboring community, had come true.
Elizabeth's curse was the result of long-standing feud between the Tilley Bend settlement and the residents of neighboring Stanley Gap.
On the day of her hanging, Elizabeth not only extended the curse, but vowed she would return. A year after her death, believing she'd held true to her promise, both communities hung her sister-in-law Mary.
Elizabeth's story still lives in the rich history of the Blue Ridge Mountains and survived long after the feud had been forgotten. But was there any truth to it? Join us as we attempt to uncover the facts.
