This week on Sunday Longplay, I had previously explored an NES Metroid improvement hack and a retro demake of a PC tech demo, and now let's explore a complete Metroid hack with a completely redesigned world and new sprite designs. Welcome to Metroid Genocide!

This hack was made all the way back in 2006, and since then I've only ever seen two people play it on YouTube. Which is a shame, because this is a hack that really deserves more recognition. This hack is definitely harder than the OG Metroid, but at no point is it unfair (except maybe in Mother Brain's boss room at the last jump to Mother Brain herself...), and I rather like the new sprite designs and environments. If you're a Metroid fan, definitely give this hack a try!
