In Christianity we talk about following Jesus, but did you know that actually everyone is a self-leader?

Hello, I'm Clarence, I'm the preacher, and by the end of this little video, you will understand exactly how and why you are leading your own life.

It has been said that "If you don't know where you are going, you might end up somewhere else." What does that mean? It means that ending up where you desire requires more than just a hope or a wish. I am not going to tell you that you can't wish upon a star, but I am going to tell you that after you wish on that star, or your birthday cake candles, or whatever, you better know exactly where you want your next footstep to land. If you don't know where that next footstep should land, then you may end up somewhere that you do not like.

Everyone is a self-leader. Some people do not do an impressive job of it.

Paul demonstrates it in 1 Corinthians 9:27. He also points to self-leadership in 2 Corinthians 10:5.

Even the few of us that decide to follow Jesus, we are still self-leaders. Jesus is not going to grab us by the ear, pull us off the couch, and make us do the things Christians are supposed to do. If we grow in Christ, it is because we had the inner strength to make ourselves do the things that most people will not do. That is self-leadership.

God is not going to ground you from life if you don't do your daily bible reading. If want to follow 2 Tim. 2:15 and practice Christianity, then you must exercise self-leadership. If you want to walk away from Christ and follow the world (Like the people in John 6) that is self-leadership too.

When it comes to self-leadership, most people choose to go with the crowd because it is easier for the moment (and it is). Most people get lost in the rat race of life because, while the rat race can be tough, it is easier than following Christ.

Leading yourself into sacrifices is not an easy choice. That requires a special type of inner toughness to carry your cross, voluntarily, day after day to the end of this life. Most people will not do it. That is why segments of modern religion have turned the church experience into an entertainment program instead of a "present your body a living sacrifice" program. Some churches figured out that if that will present Christianity as fun and games, more people will show up and put money in the plate, and it's true. It is far easier to lead oneself along an entertain, fun, and recreational path, that to lead oneself in the self-dying path that Jesus walked.
