Tha Gauls were trading with them before Rome was a thing. At least three Roman Emperors were Etruscan. If one wants to talk about hidden history, then explain why they can't seem to translate Etruscan writings, even if some scholars say they have. Even I recognize some of it, and know the stories by the art on the engraving as mythology of European culture. For sure that is a strong basis to translate what remains! At least the Etruscan priests remained until 5th Century AD.
