He Wanted to Raise His Mama from the DEAD

It came to be known as Resurrection Sunday, when tent preacher Daniel Aaron Rogers tried desperately to raise his 80 year old mother, Gladys Ruth Rogers from the dead. She died of the flu on February 2, 1978. Rather than take her to a funeral home, Reverend Rogers decided to place her in a chest freezer and try to raise her from the dead. A lengthy legal battle ensued over custody of her body, as he sought permission to move her unembalmed body from Arkansas to Missouri, to perform the resurrection ceremony at a Reeds Spring mortuary. I visit Glady’s grave and the mortuary, as I recount the unbelievable death journey of Gladys Rogers in this wild episode.
