I am speaking in my capacity as a private citizen, and not in my capacity as a board member. These statements are also not representative of the board or its individual members.

SHOW YOUR CONCERN - by going to a Board Meeting, Email, Call or send a letter to ALL - the Board, Superintendent (pamoroso@plps.org) and Principals. Apparently they don't know how you feel because there are only a few speaking out.

Please note that your email to pl.boemembers@plps.org ONLY goes to the Board President but you may ask her to forward your email to the other members. Through an OPRA request, I was told that the Board Members do not have emails.

The controversial book "The 57 Bus" Is a true story about a nonbinary person whose name is Sasha. It talks about sexuality and what pronouns to go by. Sasha, assigned male at birth, identifies as agender or genderqueer—that is, neither male nor female. There's a section where one guy tells another guy he wants to "suck his prick". Tons of m'fers, f-bombs, p*ssy, b*tch, f*ck and casual use of the word n*gga. Sorry for the inappropriateness here. Hoping that people help to do something to keep this out of the schools. I expect our schools to hold our children to high standards. There are many other books that can take the place of this choice.
