Huge shipping containers SWEPT AWAY by severe floods in South Africa
Huge shipping containers have been washed off cargo ships and swept away as severe flood waters hit South Africa.
Wendy, a resident of Reunion, South Africa, shared the distressing footage of the containers from earlier today (10/04) on Twitter.
She said: “This is where I live in Reunion, near the Old Durban International Airport.
“The containers are still falling, it’s really scary. Fortunately, no one has been harmed.”
KwaZulu-Natal has been devastated by floods after a weekend of persistent, heavy rainfall.
The flooding has wreaked havoc across the province with collapsing roads, severe injuries and even loss of life.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued an orange level 8 warning, alerting residents of the province of widespread damage and disruption from Monday (11/04) to today.
