A new blast has been reported at a chemical plant in the Donbass region, just days after a similar incident released a plume of toxic smoke into the air.
The Lugansk People’s Republic militia released a statement, which said that ‘a tank with nitric acid was blown up on the territory of the Zarya chemical plant,’ resulting in ‘a release of toxic substances into the environment.’
‘Nitric acid is dangerous if inhaled, swallowed and in contact with skin and mucous membranes. Acid fumes are irritating to the respiratory tract,’ said Kiev-appointed Governor of Lugansk, Sergey Gaidai on Facebook. He went on to blame the blast on the LPR militia, whom he referred to using the slur ‘orcs,’ while the LPR militia are placing the blame for the explosion on Ukrainian forces.
