생물학, 철학, 스포츠의학을 전공했다. 현재 《디 벨트DIE WELT》 《뇌와 정신GEHIRN UND GEIST》 《현대심리학PSYCHOLOGIE HEUTE》 등의 잡지에서 과학저널리스트로 활동 중이다. 철학, 심리학, 의학, 식품영양학 등의 분야에서 여러 권의 책을 저술했으며 그중 다수가 베스트셀러에 올랐다. 국내에서 출간된 저서로는 『다윈, 당신 실수한 거야!』『진화에 정답이 어딨어?』가 있다.
