Donald Trump, former US President and Republican presidential nominee, was hit in the ear in an apparent assassination attempt by a gunman at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, in a chaotic incident ahead of the 2024 US presidential election. The 78-year-old former president was rushed off stage with blood smeared across his face after the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, while the gunman and a bystander were killed and two spectators were critically injured.

Spectators warned police about a man with a gun as suspected gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks prepared to assassinate former President Donald Trump from a rooftop less than 450 feet from the rally stage.
