Choose File - Save or File - Save As.
Saving in Photoshop format [.psd] will retain layers, type, and other editable Photoshop properties. It’s best to save your image in PSD format while you’re still working on it.
Saving in JPEG [.jpg] or PNG [.png] format will save as a standard image file that can be shared, opened by other programs, and posted online. When you’re finished editing, save a copy in one of these formats too.

Menu bar [at the very top] shows the File, Edit, Image, and other menus that give you access to a variety of commands, adjustments, and panels.
Options bar [underneath the menu bar] displays options for the tool you are currently working with.
Tools panel [on the left]contains tools for editing images and creating artwork. Similar tools are grouped together. You can access related tools in a group by clicking and holding a tool in the panel.
Panels [on the right] include Color, Layers, Properties, and other panels that contain a variety of controls for working with images. You can find the full list of panels under the Window menu.
Document window (in the middle) displays the file you’re currently working on. Multiple open documents show up in tabs in the Document window.
Close image: Choose File - Close.

In the menu bar, choose File - New to create a new image from scratch. Select a document preset. You can customize the preset by typing in your own values, like width and height.

Choose Type - Create Outlines to convert the text to editable paths.
Click the Ungroup button in the Properties panel to be able to move the letters independently.
With the Selection tool, drag each letter separately.
Select the Direct Selection tool and drag across part of a letter to select anchor points.
Drag one of the selected anchor points to move all selected anchor points and re-shape a letter.

Select the Type tool and insert the cursor in text. Drag across the text to select it.
In the Properties panel to the right of the document, change text formatting such as font family and font size.
When selecting a font in the Font Family menu, click Find More to see a list of Adobe fonts. Find a font in the list and click Activate to sync that Adobe font with your computer. To see the synced fonts, click Show Activated Fonts.
Change the color of text by selecting the text, clicking the fill color in the Properties panel to the right of the document, and choosing a color.

With the Type tool selected, drag in the Document window to add new placeholder text to the document. This placeholder text is called area type.
With the placeholder text selected by default, type to replace it. You can place (File- Place) text documents (RTF, Word, TXT, and so on) in a text object.
Drag a corner of the text object to scale the text object and wrap the text within. Text that doesn’t fit in the text object is called overset text and is indicated by a red plus in the lower-right corner of the frame.
Reposition the text object with the Selection tool.

Recolor artwork using the Recolor Artwork dialog box.
Select artwork to recolor.
Click the Recolor button in the Properties panel to the right, to open the Recolor Artwork dialog box. Colors from the selected artwork show on a color wheel.
Drag one color handle in the color wheel to edit them all. Click the Link Unlink Harmony Colors button to unlink the colors and edit colors individually.
From the Color Library menu, choose color groups, document swatches, or preset color themes to recolor artwork.
Click the Color Theme Picker button and click both vector and raster objects on the canvas to sample and apply the color. Drag a selection through vector artwork to sample specific colors.
In the Prominent Colors section of the Recolor dialog box, adjust the weight of a color in your artwork by dragging the handle between colors.
To save all the colors in the Swatches panel, click the folder icon at the bottom of the dialog box. Choose either Save All Colors or Save Prominent Colors to only save the colors shown in the Prominent Colors section.

Gradients blend from one color to another.
Apply a default gradient to the fill or stroke of artwork by clicking the fill color or stroke color in the Properties panel to the right of the document and selecting a saved gradient swatch. Click Gradient Options to open the Gradient panel.
In the Gradient panel, select the fill color. Double-click color stops in the color ramp to edit them.
Select the Gradient tool in the Tools panel. Drag across artwork with a gradient fill to change the length, direction, and duration of a gradient.

In the Stroke panel, you can align the stroke to the path with Align options, select the Dashed Line option to apply a dash, set dash options, select an arrowhead for the start and/or end of a path, and set sizing options.

Name the color and set options. Click OK to save the color as a swatch.
Apply the new swatch by selecting artwork and clicking the fill color or stroke color in the Properties panel, selecting the Swatches option, and selecting the swatch.

Vector artwork in Illustrator can have a stroke (border) and a fill. The fill or stroke can be a color, gradient, or pattern.
Find the fill color and stroke color in the Properties panel to the right of the document. Clicking the fill color or stroke color reveals colors saved in a document, called swatches, by default.
Open the Color Picker by double-clicking the stroke or fill box at the bottom of the Tools panel on the left. Use the Color Picker to create a custom color visually, by entering color values, or by choosing from a library of color.

The Start screen appears when there are no documents currently open in Illustrator. It lists your recent files, Learn content, and presets. You can also access various resources and search Adobe Stock from here.
Choose File - New. In the New Document dialog box, start by choosing a preset. For example, the Print preset shows various sizes and document options you can set for a new document. The New Document dialog box is where you can access free and paid Adobe Stock templates, which are a great starting point for your designs.

Select a shape. Select the Rotate tool in the Tools panel. Click on the shape to set where to rotate. Drag anywhere around the shape to rotate it.
