[Rebel Civics] What Happens When Libertarians Concentrate
Host Keith and guest Dennis Pratt of the Free State Project discuss what is emerging today in New Hampshire. An ever increasing number of active, passionate, and tough libertarians are gathering together in one small state. They heartily agree on the Non-aggression Principle, but often disagree on many other aspects of life.
We are watching a sociological experiment in liberty happening in real time. Many thousands are participating. The proliferation of groups, the uncovering of differences that subdivide us, and the forking of efforts leads to both contention and decentralized success.
The snowball is rolling overwhelmingly towards liberty in the Free State, but not in the exact direction that 10,000+ libertarians would each choose to roll on their own.
Successful startups that alter an entire industry necessarily come with contention. Just ask Jeremy Kauffman and others who have had to shop around their prodigious skills to the 100+ different liberty groups cropping up in the experimental liberty landscape of NH.
Yes, liberty is messy. That’s because we're humans, not cogs building the rulers' pyramid. Watch this episode to hear the lessons we’ve learned so far. Join us in consideration of what the burgeoning liberty society in NH might encounter next!

[Rebel Civics] Israel v. Gaza with Dennis Pratt
Libertarian Dennis Pratt joins Keith for a discussion on the Israeli Government v. Hamas, Palestinians vs Zionists, and Washington DC’s interventions in the Middle East. Is the IDF bombing campaign a war or a canned hunt? Is it genocide or justified necessity? Can the Palestine problem be solved at all and if so how? What should the US government be doing? The libertarian perspective based on fundamental principles is sorely needed here. Dennis brings his strong intellectual philosophy of individual rights to the table, a viewpoint we do NOT see from any side of legacy media or the American government.
Dennis Pratt
Dennis is a libertarian who came from the left. As the #1 writer on the intellectual site Quora on "Libertarianism" for four years, he wrote 1800 essays before getting de-platformed. He moved to New Hampshire four years ago as part of the Free State Project, escaping the Authoritarian 49. Dennis organized the yearly PorcFest Porcupine Freedom Festival for three years, the largest continuing freedom gathering in the world and a week-long immersion into a liberty village. Dennis was a NH Delegate to the Libertarian Party National Convention in Reno for the last election. An undergrad psychology and grad computer science from Northwestern and grad business from MIT, he is a serial telecom and social entrepreneur.

[Rebel Civics] Will Convention of States Work?
In light of ongoing budget and debt ceiling negotiations, Keith discusses a Convention for Proposing Amendments under the U.S. Constitution’s Article V, covering what an Article V Convention is and what it could do. After an overview of the Term Limits and Balanced Budget Article V Convention movements, he looks closer at the Convention of States Project’s three-topic plan and explains why this “solution” is nowhere near as big as the problem.

[Rebel Civics] National Police Week
For National Police Week Keith discusses the “Thin Blue Line” in actual practice, the actual job of the police, and the fundamental difference between police and sheriff. Trigger warning - this is not a Back The Blue episode. Always remember the job of the police is to support and defend the government, keeping the people in check following the whims and agenda of the politicians. Police are government enforcers, with monopoly power on initiation of force, using the tools of guns and cages. Keith lives in South Florida where his encounters with cops in the last two years were thugs protecting the beach and the park from the people. The boys in blue were told to keep the parks and beach free, so they did so - free of people!

[Rebel Civics] A Kennedy Runs For President
Robert F. Kennedy Jr announced his candidacy for President with a speech calling out the evil of the “corrupt merger of state and corporate power”, continual wars, COVID lockdowns, Big Pharma, and the dramatic increase in chronic diseases. Kennedy warned the Empire that he is going to be talking about a lot of topics they don’t want to discuss, saying “this is what happens” when they censor someone for 18 years. In Rebel Civics Episode #50 Keith reviews Kennedy’s speech and discusses how much fun it will be over the next 18 months watching a man who knows what they are up to and that they can no longer silence - a guy who spent his career exposing government/corporate corruption and wrote the book “The Real Anthony Fauci”.

[Rebel Civics] The Truth About Tax Day
April 18 is Theft Day for 2023. Also known as tax day, income taxes are due. Behind the IRS tax form is a gun. The IRShas 5 million rounds of ammunition. Why? Because income tax is theft. Keith discusses what income tax really is, its history, the 1788 Constitution’s prohibition on income tax, and the effect of the states in 1913 handing the federal government the new power of income taxation.

[Rebel Civics] Who Done It?
The sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines in September 2022 remains unsolved, yet on March 27, 2023 the US government blocked the Russian formal request for an independent UN investigation. Keith reviews the pipelines, the potential culprits accused so far (Russia govt, US Navy/CIA, six sailors on a rented boat), and discusses the plausibility for each. Evidently DC does not want the UN to poke around in this business - it could get messy. Does this make you wonder if the US government knows who did it, doesn’t want us to know, and would rather the question fade from the public mind?

[Book Club] The WEIRDest People in the World by Joseph Henrich
The Unsafe Space book club discusses "The WEIRDest People in the World" by Joseph Henrich, a provocative account of how the co-evolution of psychology and culture created the peculiar Western mind that has profoundly shaped the modern world. The discussion explores the origins and evolution of family structures, marriage, and religion, and the profound impact these cultural transformations have had on human psychology. Through cutting-edge research in anthropology, psychology, economics, and evolutionary biology, Joseph Henrich illuminates the shifts through ancient history and late antiquity that gave rise to the WEIRD psychology that coevolved with impersonal markets, occupational specialization, and free competition, laying the foundation for the modern world. Participants are gaining a deeper understanding of the forces that drive human history and challenging their assumptions about the peculiarities of Western culture.

[Rebel Civics] Intrastate Secession in Illinois
Keith is joined by Eric Ivers from Illinois to discuss an intrastate secession effort to shift the IL-MO state line, moving 4-5 western Illinois counties to Missouri. Eric has been working to hold a citizen’s referendum in his county, voting to leave IL and become part of Missouri. We discuss the practical matter of passing an intrastate secession shifting state lines, the harder sell of a full state secession by leaving the union, and some secession variations in between. The irreconcilable differences in Illinois are highlighted by socialist, crime-ridden Chicago vs the large rural conservative areas, with state politics dominated by the high population city. Other Illinois secession movements will be touched on, such as solving a big problem by breaking off Chicago into the 51st State of New Illinois, and the intrastate secession movement of downstate counties moving state lines to put them in IN.

[Rebel Civics] Winners Write the History Books
The question of secession is one about the higher authority of the states above the general government. Yes, a state can constitutionally leave the union based the state and people’s decision alone. This principle is recognized by both the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. The Declaration is a secessionist document - not a founding one. But secession is not included in the version of history taught in the government schools today. The victor's schools teach the opposite, because the US government won the War for Southern Independence. As is true in all of history, the winners write the history books. Keith discusses secession, General Robert E. Lee, and the principles behind a US state lawfully leaving the union.

[Rebel Civics] It's Washington's Birthday - NOT "Presidents Day"
The federal holiday of this week is Washington’s Birthday - NOT so-called “Presidents Day”. Contrary to popular belief the holiday was NOT changed by Congress. Celebrating the birthday of all presidents is worship of the power of the King, and a celebration of the King himself. The “Presidents Day” holiday honoring the birth of all presidents is the required holiday of a monarchy, where the King’s Birthday is the most important day of the year. George Washington’s actions in the 1700s were a major part of creating the limited constitutional republic we are supposed to have and liberty-minded people should celebrate his birthday. But most US presidents were terrible for liberty. Celebrating the ever-growing power of the federal executive as implemented by most presidents, ludicrously far beyond what the Constitution authorizes, is not an American principles holiday. Keith discusses why we shouldn’t celebrate “Presidents Day”. It’s Washington’s Birthday!

[Rebel Civics] Nord Stream Bombshell and WW3
On Feb. 8 investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reported U.S. “Navy divers … planted the remotely triggered explosives that, three months later, destroyed three of the four Nord Stream pipelines”. Hersh’s plausible story and reported culprit should be one of the biggest news stories of today, yet a week after publication we mostly see crickets from legacy media. Everyone seems to be assigned to the China Balloon story. The CIA and White House denied involvement (surpassed?).
Hersh’s history of factually exposing major government crimes should give everyone pause. For example - he broke the 1968 My Lai massacre story (The White House denied that one too). If the report is true, the rational conclusion is that the US government is seriously risking WW3 by attacking both Russia and Germany. Keith discusses Seymour’s article and the biggest empire in the history of Earth.

[Rebel Civics] Peaceful Secession Worldwide with J.G. Franklin
Keith discusses secession movements past and present outside the U.S. with guest J.G. Franklin, a Washingtonian Actor and English Conversation teacher in Brazil. J.G. gives a brief history of the formation of Brazil by secession, arrangement of the federal and individual state governments of Brazil, and the possibility of three southern Brazil states going independent today. We briefly cover some of the numerous peaceful national divorces in the Americas, Eastern and Western Europe, and Africa, from Brexit to Namibia to Czech Republic to Crimea. To close we discuss the key to all of this - the principle of self-governance so nicely outlined in the US Declaration of Independence.

[Rebel Civics] Cooking With Gas
Keith discusses the ludicrously unconstitutional attempt by the Biden administration to implement a US wide ban on gas stoves, along with other actions proving those in power in the federal government have zero interest or concern with the limits imposed on them by the Constitution. Thomas Jefferson would be appalled at how far our general government has gone beyond the Founder’s intent, words, and ratified contract between the states that created Washington DC.

[Rebel Civics] The Myth of Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation
Keith discusses the truth behind President Abraham Lincoln’s edict. Widely claimed to “free all slaves” by those promoting the Lincoln Myth, his proclamation did *not* free nearly a million slaves in the united states. Lincoln specifically exempted from freedom every slave in every place he had legal authority in. Be skeptical when a politician attempts to claim a moral high ground. Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation political stunt was not what our government schools told us it was.

[Book Club] National Divorce by Tom Woods
The Unsafe Space Book Club reviews and discusses Tom Woods' new book "National Divorce" on peaceful political separation, hosted by Keith with a panel of secession thinkers. The book is based on episodes of Tom Woods Show episodes and Mises Institute talks, with secession perspectives from Tom, Jeff Deist (President of the Mises Institute), Historian Brion McClannahan, rabble-rouser Michael Malice, law school professor F.H. Buckley, President of the Texas Nationalist movement (Texit) Daniel Miller, and author Kirkpatrick Sale.
Why is it such a big deal about wanting to draw a political boundary here, instead of over there? Is the best possible arrangement of society really to have 330 million people ruled from one city? The book answers these questions, explains why a state leaving the union is constitutional and why secession is NOT treason, and presents solid arguments in favor of the principle of self-governance.
Joining in on the Book Club discussions:
Marcus Ruiz Evans, President of the Calexit full state secession movement
Steven Axelman, Founder of Americans for Peaceful Separation (APS) and Board member of Foundation for New Hampshire Independence
J.G. Franklin, an English teacher and Washingtonian Actor in Brazil, bringing in the Brazil secession movement perspective

[Rebel Civics] 2022 Rebel Civics Review
Keith looks back at 2022 from a civics perspective on the good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautiful as the government continued its war against us. Included from the bad side we cover government successes destroying the value of the dollar and moving us closer to WW3. On the good side we saw government failures when their virus/drug sales scam was exposed and the expansion of state nullification of federal laws on marijuana, firearms, and now psilocybin mushrooms. For the 2022 ugly side taxpayers got a $1.7T ass-kicking from the year-end passing of the “omnibus” bill. From the beautiful side the Twitter/FBI political censorship ring was blown wide open by the richest guy in the world using his cash to do something about free speech. Join live to add to the list!

[Rebel Civics] The Truth About the Welfare Clause
The Constitution’s “welfare clause” is frequently used to claim the federal government can lawfully fund 80+ social welfare programs. This claim requires ignoring the Constitution’s limits on the funding powers of Congress. Keith explains why the claim is both false and absurd, why every federal welfare program is unconstitutional, and why nearly $1T/year in unlawful federal spending would be eliminated if Congress abided by the contractual legal requirements they have sworn to uphold.

[Book Club] The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
Richard Petts hosts a discussion of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. The Swedish title of the popular novel is "Men Who Hate Women," and the group explores Stieg's motivation for focusing on the topic of violence against women, including Sweden's unique historical struggle with the issue as well as modern exacerbation stemming from Muslim immigration. They also explore the unlikely romance between the two main characters, reaching a general consensus that Larsson self-identified with Blomkvist.
