Oblivious to the fact that she was actually signaling for help, he decided to film her as she pawed the ground and paced back and forth. The other cows, sensing something amiss, gathered around to investigate. Flo directed her gaze toward the spot outside the fence and alternated her attention between it and Dave. Finally, Dave realized that something was awry and felt compelled to investigate, bringing his camera along. To his astonishment, Dave discovered a small, newborn calf on the outside of the fence. It lay motionless, appearing either lifeless or paralyzed by fear. Upon closer inspection, he realized the calf was unharmed but incapable of freeing itself. Dave realized that Flo was requesting his assistance, despite the wires between him and the protective mother being inadequate to restrain her if she objected to his approach. Proceeding with caution, he maneuvered over to the calf and used a stick to lift the lower wires. Notably, he noticed the name "Flo" on her ear tag and spoke reassuringly to her as he worked to reunite the calf with its mother. Throughout the rescue process, Flo visibly relaxed, and even her vocalizations transformed. She displayed no signs of anger as Dave struggled to wiggle the calf back under the wires, even though both Dave and the calf received a few shocks in the process. Dave was relieved that the calf didn't cry out, as it could have alarmed Flo, potentially triggering a protective response. Eventually, the calf and Dave successfully navigated the obstacle and were joyously reunited with Flo. In an instant, Flo began licking and inspecting her offspring, ensuring its well-being.
