Dr. Timothy Merritt, a pioneer in foresight method called Directed Fiction, has begun research for his next novel, Can You Survive the Greater Depression? The Choose Your Own Adventure story is told from the perspective of Dr. Josef Ranell, the Chief Logistics officer of Global Multimodal Logistics (GML).

Ranell has a problem. The CEO of his firm has foolishly leveraged corporate assets to purchase a fleet of six hybrid airships, for the price of 250 million dollars. Against the backdrop of the Greater Depression, Ranell must find a way to make these airships profitable, or else GML faces economic ruin.

Evil Spirits in the Heavenlies Explained
The Apostle Paul saw Evil Spirits as manifesting in the religious and political structures of the Ephesian society. He saw the convergence of spiritual and political organizations as the literal breaking in of demonic forces from the second heaven into our worldly first heaven. The full context of Paul’s message is that spiritual warfare must be coupled with social harmony.

Satan's Device #7: Making the Soul Boldy Risk Sin
If you have no fear of sin, you may be under Spiritual Attack. To reduce your risk, consider these remedies: 1) Avoid even the appearance of evil, 2) There is no conquest over sin unless the soul turns away from it, 3) Saints turn away from opportunities to sin as from Hell itself, and 4) Avoiding the opportunity to sin is evidence of grace.

Satan's Device #6: Persuading the Soul that Repentance is Easy
The remedy for the grief of Spiritual Attack is repentance: 1) Repentance is a difficult work above our power, 2) Repentance transforms the whole person from sin to God, 3) Repentance is a continued act, 4) If repentance were easy, millions would not now be in Hell, 5) To repent of sin is as great a mark of sin as not to sin, and 6) Satan says that repentance is easy, but will soon show how hard it is.

Satan's Device #5: Presenting God to the Soul as Only Merciful
You might find this hard to believe, but it is good that Spiritual Attacks cause you anxiety: 1) It is the worst judgment to be abandoned to sin, 2) Consider that God is as just as He is merciful, 3) Sins against mercy will bring the worst judgments, 4) God’s special mercy is reserved for those that both trust and fear Him and, 5) Saints looked upon God’s mercy as the most powerful argument to preserve them from sin.

Device #4: Showing Only the Sins of the Best People, While Hiding their Virtues
How can we possibly endure the fatigue from endless Spiritual Attack? Here are the techniques employed by victorious spiritual warriors: 1) God records both sin and repentance, 2) The saints did not make a habit of sin, 3) God does not disinherit sinners, but He does punish them and, 4) God has two reasons for recording the fall of the saints.

Satan's Device #3: Indulging in Lesser Sins
What does Scripture teach when under Spiritual Attack? If you’re are a member of a post-modern society, you are not going to like the answers. Scripture describes an endless Sisyphean effort required to bear the burden of sin: 1) Small sins have brought the greatest wrath of God, 2) Giving way to a lesser sin makes way for a greater sin, 3) It is sad to defy God for a trifle, 4) The most danger is often in the smallest sin, 5) Saints chose to suffer greatly rather than defy the least sin, 6) The soul cannot stand under the guilt and weight of sin and 7) There is more evil in the least sin than in the greatest affliction.

Satan's Device #2: To Paint Sin in Virtue’s Colors
What can you do when Spiritual Attack breaks your heart? 1) Understand that sin deceives us when it is disguised beautifully, but is no less filthy for being painted, 2) Recognize that the more sin is painted, the more dangerous it is, 3) See sin as it will appear in the future, and 4) Remember that Jesus dies because of these very sins.

Satan's Device #8: Showing Only the Outward Benefit of Sin
If you are experiencing spiritual anxiety because you see people benefiting from what you know to be sin, you may be under Spiritual Attack. To reduce your anxiety, consider these remedies: 1) We cannot judge God’s heart by the benefits a person receives, 2) Nothing provoked God’s wrath as much as those who abuse His mercies, 3) There is no greater curse than to NOT be in affliction, 4) The inward desires of an evil person far outweigh their outward blessings, 5) Outward things are not as they seem, nor as they are esteemed, 6) God has reasons for giving evil people outward mercies, 7) God often plagues and punishes those who others think he spares, and 8) God will call evil people to account for the outward good they enjoyed.

Christian Leadership - Decision Making
Many articles define Christian leadership, list its principles, or explain why it is important. This article digs into the process of Christian leadership and shows how it is done. I begin by describing the steps inherent in Christian leadership and then add two additional steps of discernment and socio-rhetorical criticism to arrive at an interpretation of scripture customized to the organization’s specific challenges.

Ethics for the 21st Century - Part 1
My approach to Spiritual Warfare is to concentrate on personal Ethics. Why do we need ethics? Ethics enable us to make difficult decisions that we hope will lead to outcomes we desire. Each of these behavior-based approaches to ethics, with their focus on self, rules, or outcomes, ultimately fails if followed to their logical limits.
