There is a massive disconnect between the privileged few and the rest. Already the middle class is disappearing. The current policies of fighting inflation with monetary policies which will only hurt the lower to middle class is a classic example. All the academics in their ivory tower are pushing for increased interest rates to counter what is essentially a cost push driven high inflation environment. Monetary policies will have no effect. The fact of the matter is the current inflationary environment caused by supply chain issues caused by 2 factors: 1. To a lesser extent, China’s Covid policies, and 2. The Russian Ukraine war driven by a few Western oligarchs, investment funds, hedge fund managers who with their deep pockets determine the media narrative and government polices to their own profit. This inflationary pressure will only subside if (a) either the poor people in ironically the “first world” Western economies stop spending by literally dying, or (b) these people say enough is enough, and revolt. Outcome (b) appears to be coming to fruition. All over the world, people are rising up and protesting against governments who seek to control them rather than serve them. But in many cases, the media controlled by the few are failing to report this and instead, are nudging us to be distracted by something else.
