The Angry Birds Movie (or simply Angry Birds)[5] is a 2016 Finnish-American 3D computer-animated action-adventure comedy film based on the video game series of the same name. It was directed by Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly (in their directorial debuts),[6] produced by John Cohen and Catherine Winder,[7] and written by Jon Vitti.[8] The film was animated by Sony Pictures Imageworks, and stars Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Sean Penn, Tony Hale, Keegan-Michael Key, Bill Hader and Peter Dinklage.[9] It was released in the United States on May 20, 2016, received mixed reviews from critics and has grossed over $327 million.[4][10]
