Frog breeder jumps at opportunity to supply France's best restaurants
Patrice François, a pioneer in frog breeding in France, supplies a variety of eateries around the nation, from bistros to three-starred locations. There are just a few farms in France, so despite having 100,000 batrachians on his farm in the Drôme, restaurant owners are continually searching for "made in France" frog legs. The owner of François Production said to AFP, "I didn't think it could be so complicated to breed," as he stood among dozens of ponds loaded with frogs in a tropical forest beneath 2,500 square meters of greenhouses, "I didn't think it could be so complicated to breed."

Rwandan farmers feed pigs and poultry with black soldier flies
For Rwandan livestock farmers the protein in black soldier fly larvae is an excellent alternative compared to imported fish meal and soybeans to feed their animals.
Using the larvae offers a competitive advantage to farmers, who spend less money to feed their animals. Black soldier flies are also a local and environmentally friendly resource, instead of soy, which requires a huge amount of land to cultivate.
When compared to imported fish meal and soybeans, black soldier fly larvae provide superior substitute protein for Rwandan livestock producers' animals.
Farmers that use the larvae have a competitive edge since they have to spend less money feeding their animals. In addition, black soldier flies are a nearby and ecologically beneficial resource as opposed to soy, which needs a lot of space to be grown.
Working with Vétérinaires Sans Frontières International and the University of Ghent in Rwanda, we promote black soldier fly farms and fund research that may help farmers do their jobs more efficiently.

HOW TO NATURALLY CONTROL FALL ARMYWORM
One of the more challenging insect pests to manage in field corn is fall armyworm. Both direct ear injury and severe leaf feeding damage are brought on by fall armyworm. Although autumn armyworms can harm corn plants in almost all growth stages, they tend to focus on later plantings that have not yet silked.

New Proteins for Farm Animals: Eating Insects
The majority of specialists will attribute the growing issue of vector-borne illnesses to insects. However, in other regions of the world, these little insects are valued as a good and nutritious diet.
Animals cannot be harmed by what is beneficial to people. Chinese farmers are cultivating insects to make animal feed because of this. Nutritionists from the European research project PROteINSECT are currently looking at how European farmers may employ this protein-rich feed.
The benefits are immense: insects are inexpensive to produce and have a high nutritional value for animals like poultry, pigs, and fish. However, there are still a few scientific and cultural challenges to be resolved.

How Can a Tree Be Sweetened to Grow Sweet Fruit?
A tree that begins to produce sweeter fruit from sour and tart fruits can be made sweeter. The first step in making a tree sweeter is to increase its potassium or phosphorus content. Potassium controls the synthesis of plant sugars to generate delicious fruits and aids plants in using water and resisting drought. Potassium aids plants in better absorbing nitrogen from the soil and converting it to amino acids, which are then converted to protein. Fruit will have more sugar. Phosphorus aids photosynthesis by improving light absorption, which eventually fosters plant growth and reproduction. Add extra organic fertilizer, preferably wood ash, to the soil. primarily minerals and carbon. Fruit that faces the sun is sweeter than fruit that faces the sun from the rear.

Beef producers put cattle comfort first
Comfort for cows is crucial, especially for dairy cows. The better for milk production, the less uncomfortable and stressful they are. A cow-calf enterprise is using the same concept to beef farmers. To keep his cows and calves warm and covered throughout the winter, one beef producer in Kentucky uses the compost-bedded pack barn method. The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment provides outstanding instruction, ground-breaking research, and timely assistance to farms, families, and communities in Kentucky and across the world.

Wood Pigeon
With some birds weighing more than 600 grams, wood pigeons are the biggest and heaviest members of the pigeon family in the UK. They may be found all across the nation, on farms, in wooded areas, and are becoming more and more prevalent in urban areas. Slate grey in color, adult birds have several distinguishing markings. They feature blue and white patches on either side of their necks, as well as yellow and white beaks. A white bar on each of their wings, a black band across the base of their tails, and a faded pink breast complete their appearance. Young birds lack the neck patterns and have a duller beak until they are about 16 weeks old.
