Beautiful Big whale
This year OCL Storyteller Jono Allen has been working in Tonga, sharing his connection with the Ocean through guided humpback whale encounters. Every year these gentle giants make their annual migration from the icy feeding grounds of Antarctica, to the warm blue paradise of Tonga in order to mate and give birth!
"I'd love to be able to take numerous groups to Tonga this year and for many years to come, and to be able to deliver a really informative and connecting experience to them, one that really strengthens and deepens their relationship with the whales and to nature as a whole." - @jonoimages
Jono has had his fair share of special encounters with wildlife growing up. He has always felt that nature was the real world, and wild animals would often allow him to get unusually close

Oceans monster
In the Old Testament there are several allusions to a primordial combat between God and a monstrous adversary variously named Leviathan or Rahab. Although the references to Leviathan usually indicate a dragon-like creature, the name has also been used to denote a sea monster in general (see dragon)

The voices for. the Oceans
A VOICE FOR THE OCEAN
Every once in a while, perhaps only once in a generation, profound shifts ripple through the worlds conscience: attitudes change, knowledge broadens and the way we live our lives is redrawn.
Ocean Culture Life is a community that has grown out of this new era of awareness and tapped into a worldwide network of ocean lovers, storytellers and guardians.
OCLs storytellers are united by a love of the water and an instinctive ability to capture emotion and change through the lens. Across the world, we support and connect these talented creators so that they can tell their stories in captivating photography and film.
Through the fog of media that bombards us every day, these stories of progress, of incremental improvement and endeavour in the face of persistent and unrelenting pushback, are the ones that stay with us.
Together we continue to support ocean-related community projects, research and conservation efforts across the world, creating compelling content which catalyses positive change.
By joining OCL, you can help save a small part of the joy and tranquillity that the ocean brings to our lives for generations to come. Perhaps more importantly though, you can play a key role in stemming the tide on the destruction of our oceans and giving a voice to an underwater world that has none.
Join us in coming together to create one united ocean voice.

Must be done to protect these animals
On route to his daily dive with these animals, @lonubreak @sharkislanddive is instead confronted with this heartbreaking scene in @fuvahmulah.
Despite a shark fishing ban in the Maldives, more and more devastating reports are coming in from concerned locals around the entire country who rely on the health of the sea, and promote shark diving tourism.
More MUST be done to protect these animals.
More coming soon, but in the meantime, perhaps @mofmramv @policemv @tourism.mv could comment?

Repost from @lonubreak
Dragging this large butchered up silver tip shark onto the beach was not the way I wanted to start my morning! Some fisherman still dont see that sharks are worth far more alive than like this! A sad and heartbreaking day here on Fuvahmulah. Shark fishing is illegal here but some people just dont care. More work is needed to keep our sharks safe!

Whale Shark Rescue
"We were just about to start diving when this juvenile whale shark approached our boat completely entangled in rope and plastic.
Seeing the distressed animal we jumped in the water as fast as we could. As you can see @lonubreak didnt even have time to do up his wetsuit. Quickly swimming over we managed to get close enough to cut loose the main tight rope that was cutting into its back. Unfortunately, though the ropes have also cut deep into the sharks left fin and we dont know if the rope has managed to dislodge itself from deep within its wound. I took the knife straight after this video to try cut the remaining rope loose but the distressed shark instantly disappeared deep into the depths.
We spent hours looking for it again but had no luck, I just really hope we can find it tomorrow and make sure its completely been set free🙏"

Plastics and the demand for fish products leads to deadly debris and ghost nets like this drifting in our oceans, a disastrous result for our marine life. Please consider lowering your plastic & fish consumption where possible to help reduce the number of lethal nets and traps that plague our oceans!

Oceans Unite
Ocean Unites #Love30 x 30 environmental campaign film traverses the globe documenting the harrowing scale of the man-made threats to our oceans and Ocean Unites mission to protect at least 30% of the ocean by 2030.
Narrated by philanthropist Sir Richard Branson, renowned naturalist Sir David Attenborough, and actor and ocean activist Shailene Woodley, and directed and produced by award-winning filmmaker Rob Sorrenti, the film calls each of us to action in protecting against the irreversible global damage to our blue planet.
We felt honoured to have played a part in the production of this fantastic campaign and look forward to continuing our support for #Love30x30.
