A super easy dinner to pull off and perfect on a cold fall/winter night.

Miramar Air Show which is held annually at MCAS Miramar in San Diego, the home of Top Gun, is the largest US military air show with more than 700,000 attendees. This is our second time at this event. The first one was many years back when it was not as crowded.

Love to make this pasta dish. It's quick and easy to pull off and so flavorful!

The season is changing. We have uprooted some of the summer veggies and now transitioning to some cold-loving plants like the leafy greens.

We call this lechon kawali or pan-fried pork belly. Not healthy, but should be okay once in a blue moon to satisfy the cravings. Just slices of pork belly cooked in water with bay leaves and whole peppercorns for about an hour, then salted and fried in canola oil. I will use the air fryer next time I make this which is likely in a year or two when the moon turns blue again.

... is what I whipped up for breakfast over the weekend. The weather couldn't have been better for an Autumn day, with the sun shining so beautifully, the birds were singing and the flowers were in bloom. So I carried out our breakfast to the backyard patio. I made a pancake, the Austrian version called kaiserschmarrn.

A cast-iron skillet breakfast with leftover from last night's raclette dinner. The orange and green bell peppers along with the tomatoes, thyme and chives, were harvested from our backyard edible garden. I also added some asparagus, zucchini, shrimp, scallops, bacon and sunny side egg on top.

Come join me harvest some strawberries, blueberries, kumquats, peppers, carrot and calamansi or calamondin from our small urban backyard edible garden. Let's pause for a moment too to watch the tiny birds foraging.

Inspired by stuffed grape leaves which I like to make in late Spring when the leaves of our grapevines need some pruning. This time I used mustard greens which are growing wild in our raised boxes and from what I can tell are about to bolt too or send flower stalks to produce seeds, like the other leafy greens in the backyard garden. For the stuffing, I used rice and shrimp, wrapped in mustard greens and then cooked in seasoned water for about 20 minutes.

It's that time of the year once again when leaves are about to start turning which means colder weather is right around the corner.
