Technique of The Day - Lead Check Into Counter Kick
I've been MIA due to work obligations but it's good to be back editing videos again. Today's video covers a technique I've been using more frequently ever since Alexis Chavarria advised me that I should try countering a kick with a kick of my own.
You're doing a technique called checking which is using your shin to absorb the impact and using that same leg to turn it into a kick of your own. If you time it right, should be an effective technique you can pull off quite easily during sparring. The key is to drill it until it becomes muscle memory.

Morning Shadowboxing At Hines Lake
I like to go to quiet, scenic places to practice my shadowboxing. There's nothing like hitting the bag but the advantage of shadowboxing is you can do it almost anywhere.
Near the end, someone makes a cameo during my training!
Rolling With Pro MMA Fighter And Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Jake Heffernan
I travel to The Woodlands, Texas to train with Pro fighter Jake Heffernan who fights out of Gracie Barra The Woodlands. You quickly see the difference in skill levels but that's the beauty of the journey for me - to see how I progress from this point forward.
