A nice dive in April with a starfish encountered as well as two invasive lionfish speared.

Rich and Eric go for a dive on a beautiful April afternoon in Bermuda. A Deer Cowrie shell and an invasive species (Lionfish) are seen. The lionfish became dinner.

Lionfish are an invasive species in Bermuda. They are culled to control their numbers to allow other fish a chance to breed. Without other fish the reef would be taken over by algae and die.

I came across two octopi and a speckled moray. Also a Comb Jelly and some large Parrotfish.

A three hour snorkel condensed into 2 minutes. A really good variety of fish seen: Bream, Chubs, Grey Snappers, Lobsters, Parrotfish, Fry, Lionfish, Grunts, Wrasse, etc.... Lionfish are an invasive species and I speared one to help preserve the reef's natural ecosystem. They taste good too.

Two Lionfish (Pterois Volitans) are speared. Lionfish are an invasive species in the Atlantic Ocean which were accidentally introduced by the home aquarium hobbyists. Also seen are a porcupine fish, reef squid and others...

October 30th 2023. Calm seas and high tide are the Lionfish's favourite conditions. I speared two of these invasive fish within 10 minutes of entering the water.

On a very surgey evening, I took to the water after a couple of months off the island. I hadn't recharged my flashlight while away. Towards the end of the freedive, the flashlight started to go dim, so I decided I should look for an exit as soon as possible. Of course as is often the case, just at that moment a lionfish appeared in front of my dim light. I speared the invasive lionfish and swam around the rocky point through rough surf with my light sputtering out on me before I could make it to the beach. A perfect free divefor the Halloween season!

We encounter Queen Conchs, Chubs, Parrotfish and a Porgy in clear, warm Bermuda seas.

REVIVE el CUARTO ENCIERRO de SAN FERMÍN 2023 Eric ticks off an item on his bucket list. Running with the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. It is a part of the San Fermin festival. The colliseum event at the end of the run is held in the Plaza de Toros.

A nice variety of life seen. Pufferfish, parrotfish, bar-jacks, grunts, gold-spotted snake eel, and a bunch of spiny lobsters.

A large variety of fish and marine life seen on this dive In May 2023. Parrotfish, Grunts,Horse-eye Jacks, Grouper, Sea Hare, Spiny Lobster, Snappers, Squirrelfish, Angelfish etc... A really interesting dive.

Carl and Eric take advantage of the beautiful weather and go free-diving along the south shore. The water clarity was excellent.

I ran into this Spotted Eagle Ray off Pokiok Beach while helping a friend look for his lost lost Lionfish spear. I found the spear too! So it was a really good free-dive.

In mid-April in the mid-Atlantic, I enjoy a freedive and encounter a medium sized Barracuda, a huge Grouper and a very small Lionfish. Lionfish are an invasive species in Bermuda, so it was speared, deep fried and eaten as a snack later.

You can see a hook and line hanging off the left side of the lower jaw on the first grouper. Not nice to see. I saw three large groupers on this freedive last monday. I also speared two invasive Lionfish. The second one was 17" long and very heavy.

The water was calm. Spiny lobsters and lionfish were about. Lionfish are an invasive species that depletes other species on our reefs.

Snorkeling in Bermuda on June 8th 2018 we come across a 16" lionfish, then an Emperor Helmet conch (which is a rare and protected species in Bermuda) and finally another lionfish (17"long).

Three scuba divers explore Devonshire Bay. 5 lionfish were speared. A large school of Bermuda Chubs, a school of blue chromis and an Amberjack were seen.

Not seen so often anymore is the Gwelly (Pseudocaranx dentex). Its a type of jack. Here seen under Flatt's Bridge on a night dive in September 2017.
