Monday Mindset Motivation: The Emotional Bank Account
Monday Mindset Motivation: The Emotional Bank Account.
Humans are innately emotional creatures, and our perceptions of our reality and environment are shaped by those emotions.
Everyone has an EBA, and just like a regular bank account, you can make witbdrawals from and deposits into the account. Acts of kindness, displays of affections, showing respect, and similar behaviors all make deposits into ones EBA. Disrespect, insults, and unkindnesses are all withdrawals from the EBA.
If you can determine what someone considers a deposite/withdrawal, and you implement what you’ve learned from the 7 habits, you can positively influence and shape your relationships, as well as repair damaged ones!
The concept of the EBA is important in all of the habits but especially Habit 5: “Seek first to understand…then to be understood.”

Wednesday’s Biblical Financial Principles
Wednesday’s Biblical Financial Principles
Matthew 6:24-“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
1 Timothy 6:10-“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced them themselves with many griefs.”
I believe God calls us to love Him more than we love money, so that money will not be our master.
Choosing not to love money does not mean that you shouldn’t pursue wealth or financial independence. God also calls us to save our money, stay out of debt, plan for our future financially, and to provide for our families. Not loving money doesn’t mean you have to shun money!
At the end of the day, remember that there are two priceless things that no amount of money in the world can buy: time, and your family.

Financial Facts Friday: How does life insurance work?
Financial Facts Friday: How does life insurance work?
Policy owner: the person who PAYS for the policy.
Insured: the person COVERED by the policy.
Beneficiary: the person who receives the death benefit.
Death benefit: the life insurance pay out (paid to beneficiary upon the insured’s passing).
The basic concept is very simple! Here is a really (really, really!) simplified breakdown of how it works.
1. Find a life insurance provider.
2. Choose a type of life insurance.
3. Select your beneficiary.
4. Pay the life insurance company for coverage. The most common payments are made monthly or annually.
5. If you pass away within the period of time that the policy covers, your beneficiary will receive a death benefit pay out!
6. If you pass away outside of the period of time the life insurance policy covers, your beneficiary will NOT receive the death benefit.
Next week, we will talk about WHO needs life insurance!

What does the Bible say about debt?
What does the Bible say about debt?
77% of Americans carry some form of consumer debt. Consumer debt includes things like a mortgage on a house, a car loan, credit card debt, student loans, and others. If debt is so normal in our society, why does having it stress us out?
While having debt may be considered normal, I wouldn’t classify it as a good (or a bad) thing. Our culture and mindset about debt is a direct result of our instant gratification oriented society, which has created an unhealthy “buy now, pay later” attitude about almost everything we do and have in our life.
Proverbs 22:7 reads: “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” When you owe someone a debt, every penny you make and every hour you work belongs to that other person until the debt is settled. If you want to avoid the stresses associated with being in debt, you need to get out of debt!
The average amount of debt the American household has is around $101,000!!! Regardless of the amount of debt you have, it is possible to get out of it. My agency is dedicated to teaching the financial principles that will aid you in doing just that! Here is a quick crash course on managing and getting out of your debt:
1. Acknowledgment is the first step to recovery. Recognize how deep (or shallow) your debt hole is and resolve to overcome this obstacle.
2. Muster up all the self-control you can, cuz you’re gonna need it!
3. Make a budget. You need to account for every penny you make and how it’s spent.
4. Once you make the budget, you need to separate it into wants and needs. Any payments going towards a want (Netflix, weekly eating out, etc) needs to be cut out so that money can go towards paying off your debts.
5. Next we’re going to tackle the debt. You’re going to pick a method to use depending on the kinds of debt you have: the debt snowball or the debt avalanche.
6. Once you pay the debt off, the last step is to stay out of debt by employing healthy financial practices!
Here’s a quick summary of how the snowball and avalanche works:
Debt snowball: endorsed by Dave Ramsey.
1. Organize your debts from the smallest debt to the largest debt.
2. Pay the minimum payments on all of the debts during this entire process.
3. Begin paying every extra cent you can find, towards the smallest debt, to pay it off as quickly as possible.
4. Once the smallest debt is paid off, you will take the minimum payment + the extra payment you had been making, and apply it to the minimum payment of the second smallest debt.
5. This method creates an ever increasing payment onto the larger debts, enabling you to pay them off faster than if you just kept paying the minimum payments on them all separately.
6. Continue this method until you pay down all of the debts.
The avalanche method: Use the same steps as listed above for the debt snowball, but pay down debts by paying off the highest interest debt first, in order with the lowest interest debt last.
I will make future videos that go into more detail about managing debt, creating a budget, the avalanche and snowball methods, and more! For now, I hope this helps you get started on your debt free journey!

Monday Mindset Motivation: Habit 5 “Seek First To Understand…Then To Be Understood.”
Monday Mindset Motivation: Habit 5-“Seek First To Understand…Then To Be Understood.”
Guys this Habit is so cool and so impactful! It is the accumulation of the first 4 habits, in action! You have to be proative, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, and think win-win all at the same time in order to practice this habit!
Practicing this habit will lead to breaking down walls, rectifying misunderstandings, and creating cohesion and the next habit, synergy, in every relationship you have.
Everyone sees the world through a different set of “glasses.” These glasses are formed by our unique background, upbringing, individual experiences, and other relationships. Everyone’s glasses are different, and everyone sees the world as THEY ARE, not as the world actually IS. So, if you’re going to see things from their perspective, you have to try to put on their glasses!
Looking at things from someone else’s perspective will help you understand that person in a way that allows you to adjust your expectations of that person and your relationship with them, and thus adjust the satisfaction you achieve in your relationship with them! That’s so amazing!
Next week, we will go more into why this Habit is so cool and so important!

Financial Facts Friday: Life Insurance! What is it?
Welcome to Financial Facts Friday! The next couple of segments we will be learning about life insurance!
Today’s video will answer the question: what is life insurance?
Life insurance is an insurance product for people, similar to how car insurance is for a car. Car insurance will pay out in the case of an accident, whereas life insurance will pay out once you pass away.
Once someone passes away, their life insurance is going to pay their beneficiaries (often their family) and will often replace the income the deceased family member can no longer provide, which is why another name for life insurance is “income protection.”
Next week we will talk about how life insurance works! Happy Friday!

Do you pay yourself when you get your paycheck
Do you pay yourself when you get your paycheck every two weeks? Paying yourself means that you put some of your income aside in savings.
The Bible talks about the wisdom behind saving and financially preparing for the future:
Luke 14:28-“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it.”
Proverbs 21:20-“The wise store up choice food and olive oik, but fools gulp theirs down.”
#daveramsey recommends that you save 10-15% of your monthly income every month!
“How Money Works” talks about the 3 types of savings funds you need to save for:
1. The emergency fund: it’s for emergencies (duh!)! It should have 3-6 months worth of expenses in it to cover any unexpected expenses in the next 2 years.
2. The short term savings fund: this is for expected expenses in the next 3-5 years (nee car, down payment on a house). It should have a minimum of 6 months worth of income saved to accommodate this.
3. The retirement/wealth building account: you need enough money to be able to retire with dignity, and at tbe same (or better) standard of living as you are now. The average American family needs between $2-$4Million to achieve this goal.
Message me for a free consultation to help get you on track for retirement and savings!

Instant Gratification vs. Diligence
Instant Gratification vs. Diligence
Instant gratification: the need to immediately fulfill an urge or desire; expecting so succed or win at something without investing the equivalent amount of time and effort.
Diligence: careful and persistent work or effort.
Instant gratification has twisted our society into one that fails constantly. We get overwhelmed by the distance we have to go from our starting point to our goals, and 85% of us will give up before we even give ourselves a chance to get started.
Good things take time and hardwork. You can’t expect to see sprouts out of your seed when you just planted it yesterday, and us humans are much like plants in that we take time to change, grow, and develop on every level.
The Bible and God advise that a wise person does not fall prey to the folly of instant gratification, but instead works diligently, consistently, and patiently in order to effect change and achieve your goals. Here are a few verses that talk about just that.
Proverbs 12:11-“Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense.”
Proverbs 14:23-“All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”
Proverbs 24:33-34: “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—and poverty will comeon you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.”
I hope this inspires you to be diligent in the pursuit of your goals and to not give up today!

Verse of the week: Phillipians 4:6!
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
When you are feeling anxious, worried, afraid, or concerned about something in your life, take your worries to God and ask for His help! Go to Him consistently and with thanks in your heart, and understand that He is bigger than all your fears and worries, and he has promised to take care of you because you are His child!

The Bible Talks About Budgeting?
The Bible talks about budgeting?
While there is not a specific verse that says “you need to budget,” the Bible is chalk full of verses that advise you to prepare and plan ahead.
Todays verse is Proverbs 21:5-“The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” My interpretation of this verse is that planning ahead not only helps you find success, but also helps you avoid failure.
Budgeting is an important tool to help you control your finances. Knowing where every dollar you spend is going is important to your financial success. The good news is, budgeting is not as hard as you might think it would be! The gist of a budget is to make your expenses match your income to the cent.
Start working on your budget today. I recommend utilizing Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover budget, or this one I’ve linked here!

Monday Mindset Motivation: Habit 4, Think Win-Win
Monday Mindset Motivation: Habit 4, Think Win-Win
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Families) by Stephen R. Covey.
Thinking Win-Win is the root to practice Habit 5, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, which is the route you take to reach Habit 6, synergy, the fruit of these 3 habits!
To adopt a win-win mindset you need to adopt an abundance mindset, and recognize that working with others yields a nearly endless opportunities to solve almost any problem. A scarcity mindset will not allow for collaboration or win-win.
I want to expand on what I said in the last minute of this video.
A win-win mindset isn’t just about making the other person happy, and saying that the other person being happy will make you happy is an oversimplification of the concept. So, here’s an elaboration: when you find a solution that benefits everyone, everyone walks away from the situation with most of their needs met, and therefore everyone gets to walk away happy and satisfied. Knowing that your efforts directly resulted in everyone having their needs met and happy with the situation makes you happy.
Especially in personal relationships, valuing the other persons desires is part of why a win-win mindset is so important. Striving for a win-win communicates to the other person that they matter to you, and this is the best way to maintain and strengthen your interpersonal relationships.
Utilizing Habit 4 is the key to unlocking Habits 5 and 6, and Habit 6 of Synergy is where the fruits of your labor in the first 5 habits is recognized!

Sick? Here’s What You Can Do!
Sick? Here’s what you can do! (This is not medical advice!)
Here are some of the first things that my family and I do when we start to get sick with the cold or flu!
1) Prevention is key! It is easier (and cheaper!) to prevent your illness than it is to try and fight it off!
2) When you first start noticing symptoms, then is the time to go ham with the interventions! Hydrate, hygeine, supplements and vitamins, and whatever else you like to do, now is the time for it!
3) Hygeine! Get out of bed and take a shower! Getting clean will make you feel better, and if you look better than you feel, your brain will help you get better faster!
4) Hydrate! Avoid sugary drinks and caffeine, go for water and hot, unsweetened teas!
5) Nutrition! Avoid sugar and carbs—they’re easy food for viruses and pathogens, and inflammatory for us! Go for broths if you can’t stomach solid proteins and fats!
6) Go outside and get some sun! Even if there is no sun, fresh air and movement will only help you get better faster!
If you want a video about supplements, vitamins, homeopathic remedies, and other things you can do when you get sick, let me know!

Monday Mindset Motivation and Life Update!
Monday’s Mindset Motivation and Life Update!
This last week we were visiting my home state of Idaho to see my family and introduce them to my son! I didn’t post during the week so I could focus on enjoying my time with my family, and so the internet wouldn’t know I wasn’t home!
Now, we had a couple of bumps in the road along the way. Our son got sick with a cold and then we had to reschedule our flight! But, some valuable mindset lessons to keep in mind during situations like these;
1) Keep calm, cool, and collected, especially in frustrating situations.
2) Remember your blessings and be grateful for the little things. Your brain can’t be anxious and grateful at the same time!
3) Trust in God’s plan and believe that things will turn out ok!

What Does Your Work Day Look Like?
What does your work day look like?
Since I am #blessed to be able to #workfromhome, my work day looks a bit like this, sometimes.
In between meetings and appointments I have the ability to get cleaning, cooking, baking, laundry, and other chores done. While some may not find those tasks particularly enjoyable to do, I much prefer to do them here and there rather than having them pile up for me to do on the weekend!
I also have the ability to go enjoy the sunshine with my son, and time to spend with him and my husband, who also works from home!
Are you able to do this at your current job? Do you want your day to be filled with activities that you enjoy, and be able to keep up with the chores? Let me know in the comments!

The Bible Teaches About Money?!
The Bible teaches us about money?! There are 2,350 verses in the Bible relating to money and finances. 15% of all the Jesus ministered to his disciples was about money—that’s the second most talked about topic, the first being the Kingdom of God! How cool is that?!
If you want to start learning about finances, the Bible is a great resource to references! The agency that I work with strongly believes in these Biblical principles, and we incorporate them into the principles we teach our clients!
